Primitive hominids wandered the wilderness risking life and limb to forage for food. Nature has handsomely provided with humankind with bounty from the land and from the seas. Plants were the first nutrition of hominids as it observed other creatures eat varieties. Fruits were eventually harvested and the seeds planted near the abodes. Creatures need protein to fuel the body. Meat is the primary source of protein. Hunting was a daily activity of early humans and was mostly done in thickets were dangers lurked. Early peoples were intelligent in that settlements were made always near the river banks. This is true in parts of ancient civilization. Modern agronomists agree that soil along rivers is always fertile.

The domestication of wild animals was a milestone in the history of peoples. Breeding and cross breeding eliminated the need capture and kill for meat. The herd just had to be fed and watered as with the crops that were cultivated in the area. People also had no problem with sanitation as water was readily available for whatever purpose it served.

Large scale farming and livestock breeding is now being practiced all over the world to meet the nutritional requirements of population. Stretches of wheat fields span great areas as far as the eyes can see. Cornfields blot the landscape. Once harvested these are transported in bulk by huge rigs that crisscross across the continents towards the cities.

Logistics takes care of hauling and trucking goods from one place to another. From producers to customer, from farm to market, from market to hotels and eateries, transactions involving theses happen every day. Storage facilities are part of logistics as inventories are carefully monitored and distributed from this facility. Large tractor trailer trucks do most of the cross country hauling of crops.

People like to commemorate events with celebrations and where there are celebrations food is to be had. Town fiestas in Hispanic influenced communities are a good place to be when visiting places. Tourists can be invited from house to house and get a taste of familial cookery. It lasts for days and in the final day, food is everywhere.

Greater demand for food has force the agriculture sector to convert more lands for cultivation. Residential estates are slowly encroaching on animal habitats too. Government must rationalize the use of land if it has to save the balance of nature. Conservation and preservation must be put to fore it its programs. All life forms depend so much on earth survival.
