Expert Seafood With Raw Bar Catering NYC

By Stacey Burt

A healthy, balanced diet is often emphasized as part of a proper lifestyle. However, as city dwellers may be able to attest to, buying all the necessary items in such a diet is not the easiest (or cheapest) task in an urban context, and may also require extra time. Western consumers should take note that seafood and shellfish, served raw or cooked, are a significant source of nutrients and protein, and not only an alternative lifestyle choice for those who enjoying experimenting. It may be worth one;'s while to explore raw bar catering NYC.

The nutritional importance of seafood lies in its concentrations of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, which nourish the neurological system (brain and nerves), as well as the high protein value of seafood in general (it is similar to chicken or prime beef). The skeletons of fish, which is sometimes edible in the smaller species, also contains important minerals.

Raw bars serve the seafood in various forms, some of which may be familiar to the Western consumer, others not. As an example, there is the carpaccio style, which is a traditional Italian dish, usually made with uncooked red meat. Preparing it with a marine animal is therefore not so different to what the customer may be used to. On the other hand, sushi is the traditional Japanese seafood cuisine, although it has established a significant presence in other parts of the world.

The concept of raw meat, or raw protein, may also be daunting to some consumers. It may simply not be part of their dietary experience, or they may be have been swayed by scare-stories shared by biased or uninformed acquaintances. They should, however, realize that the serving of such dishes has a long history. Also, appropriate preparation, storage and presentation preempt the risk of disease.

However, for those who refuse to partake of raw dishes, some raw bars offer cooked versions too. These are marine dishes which involve cooked seafood, such as stews or steamed shellfish. So, the customer may exercise their preference in this regard.

The emphasis in the menu of a raw bar is on shellfish. Examples of these are prawns, oysters, clams and mussels, all of which are present in various species. This translates into a large diversity of possible offerings, and each bar may offer different species. The customary presentation is with a citrus condiment, such as lemon juice, or sometimes with alcohol. As a separate menu section, there is sushi, which already has an established presence in Western dining experience.

As to the cooked dishes, these might be more known to American patrons. Salmon is a staple favourite, and is sold cured, while clam chowder is a popular recipe on its own. Other dishes, such as steamed clams and poached shrimp, are not so far removed from Western cuisine either. Patrons who want to prepare these dishes at home may find that observing their preparation in the raw bar is an interesting lesson in their perfection.

For those who are tired of the mundane succession of microwave dinners, takeaways and vitamin tablets, seafood is a realistic alternative. Maintaining the right diet in the city is sometimes challenging, so seafood offers a highly nutritious option.

Rent A Food Truck And Explore The Opportunities Of The Festival Circuit

By Patty Goff

Summer is the perfect time to bring those two favorites, music and camping, together. This is why outdoor music festivals are so popular. People can rough it for a weekend by sleeping in tents but at the same time they get to enjoy some excellent live music. For many, the thought of doing their own cooking on camping stoves or fires is too much to bear, though. However, you can grab this opportunity to make some money on the festival circuit. You simply need to rent a food truck.

Outdoor music festivals have been around for many years. The most legendary of them all was probably Woodstock back in 1969. Like Woodstock, most of these events are held in the countryside and far away from the city, so the music lovers who attend can't just call and order pizza or Chinese take-out for delivery. They need to bring their own food or rely on the vendors at the festival.

If you're planning on selling meals at a festival of your choice, you first need to get permission from the organizers. You normally have to pay a fee to be able to run a stall at the event. For the more popular festivals, you'll need to contact the organizers months in advance because the competition for vending permits is quite tough.

Next, you have to decide what to sell. Know your target market by doing some research. Different festivals cater for different musical tastes and often there is a pattern in what fans of certain genres prefer to eat. At a more traditional rock festival you may still get away with serving burgers but at one that attracts a New Age kind of person, healthy and vegetarian options are a good idea.

Another important consideration is how practical it would be to prepare the meals you want to sell. Customers don't want a long wait for their order, so you should sell something that can be prepared within less than five minutes. It's also much easier to choose something that you can prepare in bulk ahead of time, such as a curry that you can simply dish up from a large pot.

It's also important to remember that your space for cold storage will be limited. This is why it's best to choose dishes that use ingredients with a long shelf life. The supply of power to your truck's refrigeration system may be unreliable so don't opt for foods that depend entirely on refrigeration, such as sushi or ice cream.

A headache for most festival organizers is the amount of litter produced during the event. Help keep this to a minimum by serving foods that don't need cutlery, such as burgers or wraps. Even curries can be served creatively in edible containers made from bread, for instance, instead of on paper plates. Cutting out the cutlery will also lower your overheads.

Finally, your venture will only be successful if you're open for business at the right time. Most people at festivals get up later in the morning because they party until the wee hours. It's best to open a little later and stay open until late at night for those people who want a midnight snack.

Calming The Dangerous Waves Of Raw Bar Catering

By Patty Goff

Some people would cringe at the thought of eating uncooked treats. But from sushi to cerviche, the popularity of raw cuisine has now tsunamied its way to starfishdom that almost every classy restaurant is serving these quivering little guys from the sea. And while they are considered heavenly delights to those who have acquired the taste, foodies should also be aware of the catch.

Bacteria, worms, metal poisoning in fish, and overall food poisoning are potential health hazards. Yet the raw bar catering NYC scene has caught on the rest of us, and anyone wanting to get their fix should be well aware of the safety concerns. Otherwise, you might not be able to taste that squirming fish ever again if you are not careful.

According to research, it is not really so much about the probability of getting food poisoning per se, but because people are shoving ridiculously large amounts of raw stuff into their throats. With the availability of more stuff to be eaten alive, diners disregard the quantity they devour. More is not necessarily merrier in this case, because instead of benefiting from the renowned nutritious reputation, it will a situation of too much of a good thing is certainly bad.

The good news is that food can be cooked in two ways. Traditionally, we use heat to prepare our meals, but doing the opposite and subjecting our edible friends into extremely low temperatures will also kill the nasty bacteria. This is why all fish and seafood must be sushi grade if you decide to munch on them uncooked.

Climate and season can also affect your meal. Oysters give people vibriosis when eaten during summertime, which causes a variety of gastrointestinal issues and even septicemia. They are not caused by pollution, and dining on your clammy friends during the colder months are the best way to be safe.

There are seasonal raw bars that ride the wave of how certain mollusks can only be consumed on specific times of the year, but for the omniprescent ones, it is vital to ask the server which menu item is good for you today. Having the staff recommend what you should order will let you know their freshest stock in hand so you can be worry free. There are also many species and variations of clams, oysters, and scallops, and they may differ in taste and texture as they acquire their characteristics according to which ocean they are from.

To avoid parasites from rare fish, expect to find a lot of seawater when your order is served. Look at your food straight in the eye, and they should be clear, not cloudy. Take note of the smell as well, because bad smells are the best giveaway to harmful food. Should you be suspicious, have it returned to the kitchen and be replaced.

Avoid chipped, broken, or disfigured shells. Do a tap test, in which a valid clam will readily close if you tap them. See if the meat of the clam is dry, and if it is, throw it away or request a replacement. Never hesitate to tell your server you have been brought bad food when it comes to dining raw.

Your risks are lower if you will simply eat cooked food, but if you like them rare, be vigilant. They are strictly off limits when you are pregnant, old or have a compromised immune system. Eat where the crowd is to ensure that you are getting not just good food sources but also trustworthy ones.

Most of them are very innovative and creative in choosing the right ingredients to achieve exquisite flavor, color outcome on the fish's skin and texture. Why You Should Learn About Sushi Benefits

By Robert Sutter

I have become a big fan of sushi, as of late, and there are many reasons for this. While I may not consider myself the biggest fish lover, the way that effective sushi is prepared is hard to deny and it's something that I do not mind getting every now and then for dinner. With that said, it wasn't until recently that I started to research the health benefits associated with sushi. To say that I learned a lot about the matter would be one of the biggest understatements ever uttered.

Many types of sushi are made with seaweed, which is surprisingly healthful for one particular reason. Unlike most other types of food, sushi contains seaweed, which is a tremendous source of iodine. for those who do not know, iodine is able to maintain activity in the thyroid gland, which is able to regulate and produce hormones over the course of time. Without proper care given to the thyroid, occurrences along the lines of tiredness and heart-related problems possess high levels of risk.

Of course, it'd be wrong not to talk about the presence of fish, which is another prominent factor of sushi rolls. Fish is commonly known for its omega-3 content, meaning that this product is able to provide protein as well as good fats that the body can actually put to use. It's also worth noting that a diet that contains fish does not have nearly as much cholesterol as other regimens. This is yet another reason why sushi should not be overlooked.

However, easily the most important ingredient when it comes to sushi preparation has got to be rice. This is true for any kind of roll, whether they are made with animal products or not. For the latter, rice is useful because of how it is able to supply protein, which is a commonly lost nutrient for meatless diets. In addition, rice is a wheat-free product, which is great for those who might not have been able to eat it otherwise due to allergenic reasons.

To say that sushi has its benefits, due to its most prominent ingredients, would be something of an understatement. Sushi is not only one of the more beloved Japanese delicacies but it is also one of the healthiest additions that anyone can bring into their diet. The good thing about sushi, though, is that there is a tremendous amount of variety for people to get involved in. Throw in both vitamins and essential nutrients and it's easy to see why so many people enjoy this food.

Buy Salmon Online For Tasty And Nutritious Meals Any Time

By Essie Osborn

Finding a healthy source of animal protein is often easier said than done. Too much red meat in the diet can cause cardiovascular problems and other ailments while chicken is often full of artificial hormones. Fish is a great alternative but not always easy to find fresh if you don't live near the ocean, a river or a lake. Luckily you can simply buy salmon online and prepare healthy, delicious meals.

When it comes to fish, salmon is a very good choice. It's delicious and versatile but it's also a very healthy option. Apart from its high protein content, it's an important source of essential omega-3 fatty acids, great for fighting heart disease or for treating conditions like bipolar disorder, autism, ADHD and depression. Moreover, it contains a good supply of bone-building Vitamin D.

Salmon is mainly found in the northern parts of the Atlantic and the Pacific Ocean. There are different species, from the chinook of the northwestern parts of North America to the masu of Japan, the Korean peninsula and Russia. The carnivorous fish live in the ocean but lay their eggs in freshwater streams. They can travel hundreds of miles inland to spawn, after which they die.

Like with many other species of fish, salmon populations have declined because of overfishing. There are fish farms that try and meet the demand but most connoisseurs prefer the wild variety. If you can't catch your own fish, ordering it online makes it possible for you to find out where the fish was sourced and to only buy sustainably harvested products.

Once you have your supply, the greatest challenge is to decide which of the many ways to prepare it you'd like to try. One of the simplest preparation methods is to grill the fish and serve it with lemon wedges. For extra flavor, marinate it before grilling it. Try making some salsas with mangoes or peaches to accompany the rich flavor of the oily fish.

The Japanese have only recently started eating salmon raw in the form of sushi, since the raw fish may contain harmful parasites. However, if you buy from a reputable supplier, the risk of the fish containing anything but natural goodness is minimal. Mix it with lemon juice, onions and tomatoes for a South American style ceviche or cure it with salt, sugar and spices to make Scandinavian gravlax.

Smoked salmon is a tasty delicacy that can be enjoyed as is, served with lettuce and cream cheese for a taste sensation. Leftovers from either the fresh or smoked variety don't have to go to waste. Use it to make a spread that is delicious on fresh bread or form them into fish cakes or burgers.

There is a myriad of online suppliers of salmon. To choose the best one, check their credentials and read what other customers have to say. Also make sure that they will deliver to your part of the world. Place your order and allow a day or so for delivery directly to your door, then take out the recipe books and let your creative juices flow.

By Bonnie Contreras

Sushi and sashimi are some oriental dishes that have become popular here in the United States. However, most are still at a loss as to how to find the best sushi in the Bronx should they be in the neighborhood. You should have some sort of checklist to assist you and this is what this article here is for.

Raw fish is the main ingredient in these two dishes so freshness of the fish is extremely important. The fresher the fish is the less chance of any health complications. This is because these dishes are served raw and not cooked. The choice in serving it raw is probably the reason not many Westerners have taken to eating this delicacy

How you would determine the freshness of the fish is quite easy. First look at the color and see if it is light pink to whitish pink. Then smell it. If it smells a bit off then it is probably not for you. The last way to test for freshness is to feel the surface with your finger. If it is a bit slippery and slimy then it is not probably fresh.

Apart from freshness, price is also a factor in your decision to determine the best sushi you can afford. It is a sad fact that most Japanese dishes are priced way out of the budget of the ordinary individual. However this should not be the case, as there are establishments and outlets out there that do give good Japanese meals without the high price.

Try to find out who runs and owns the place you plan to eat at. This is fairly simply done, you can just straight out ask at the place itself who owns it, or maybe ask one of the patrons of the restaurant.

The kind of clientele your prospective place for has is also a good indicator of its authenticity. Should the place have a steady stream of regular Oriental clientele then you can be sure the food is as close to home as it can get. This is because why would they eat at a place where it does not cater to their specific tastes after all.

By Helene Norris

Many places that one can visit in the Los Angeles area that are comfortable and inexpensive, some are trendy and others may be the place of the moment according to local media. Even if a person does not have a car, they do not have to go to the usual trendy places to get good food. The South Bay area is near not only the 405 but also it is also home to many Redondo Beach seafood restaurants.

Visiting Redondo Beach is a treat as there are places to shop and fun things to do that do not cost a lot of money. There are eateries on Pacific Coast Highway and other stretches that are established and gained excellent reviews. Yet, many would say the Redondo Beach Pier is the best place to get great seafood.

At the Pier are many different types of restaurants, including those that serve freshly caught seafood. For people that want to eat while walking around or sit somewhere informal, there are takeouts that serve all kinds of fish and shellfish. The food is normally prepared on the spot and the prices are good. Some of these places also sell fresh fish and shellfish to take home and prepare.

There are also a few casual sit down eateries that are inexpensive and offer ocean views. Some of these have comedy or karaoke. Though this does not happen until dark, many of these places have fresh meals that range from the classics like clam chowder to unusual dishes prepared by award-winning chefs. Many places request that guests have covered feet and a shirt in order to get food service.

Then there are places like Tony's, also known as Old Tony's on the Pier, which is considered as the place for seafood. It sits atop the Pier and reservations are highly recommended on evenings and weekends. Their dishes range from simple appetizers to succulent meals that will have a person licking their fingers. They also have an unusual cocktail menu and live entertainment by established performers.

There are also chain restaurants like Cheesecake Factory and Joe's Crab Shack that have many tasty offerings in a comfortable atmosphere. In recent, a number of sushi restaurants and bars have karaoke performances. For some, these and the comedy shows are tied with food when it comes to preference.

Anyone who comes to the Pier should be prepared for parking. There is underground parking, which is protected as well as highly recommended for anyone staying for more than a couple of hours or visiting in the later hours. Some restaurants north of the Pier offer valet parking, which is often validated by the restaurant with minimal purchase. There is also metered parking as well as street parking, which can be a little risky and requires a bit of walking.

Anyone who visits the Pier or other Redondo Beach attractions will find plenty to do in the area. For the most part, it is not as congested as other beaches and the people are a little more laid back when it comes to attitude. While the Los Angeles dining experience has bragging rights for some, it may be a good idea to look into Redondo Beach seafood restaurants as a change of pace.

Fine Food Can Be Easy On The Wallet

By Brenton Zeidan

Food is vital, but unfortunately, fine dining is a luxury, and from the name itself, an incredibly fine one at that. It's really a luxury afforded by the rich and famous, and one that you can have too. All it requires is an excellent appreciation of good food and excellent wine, plus a bit of extra money in your personalized money clip.

Worth the Wait

Everyone knows that good food, like good wine, will take time. You'll understand that you're in a notably good restaurant if it takes them awhile to prepare your meal. Food that takes time to prepare often comes out beautifully and is really worth the wait and anticipation. It will look perfect, smell perfect, and taste perfect, and will be worth every penny in your personalized money clip.

Good Value for Money

Though most fine cuisines around the world can weigh heavily on your personalized money clip, there are some that are actually quite affordable. They're so reasonably priced that you'll barely notice the change in the contents of your personalized money clip.

Western and European cuisine in many cases are expensive. Eating French foie gras, Italian pizza and pasta, or English steak and kidney pies can cause a sizable dent on your personalized money clip. This is due to the reality that cost of living is a great deal higher in these countries and a lot of ingredients need to be exported; as a result, food is only cooked using the finest cuts of meat, the freshest and hardest to find vegetables, and imported spices. These are also identified as posh food and are mostly patronized by well-to-do Westerners.

Eastern and Oriental cuisine, in contrast, will barely make a difference in your personalized money clip. Street food such as Thailand's pad thai, China's dumplings, India's curries, and Japan's sushi are a mere few pennies, dollar wise. Ingredients are grown locally, even in backyards, so the inflation of prices for spices, meats, and vegetables are practically unheard of.

The majority of Westerners would hesitate from digging in to these types of food, and understandably so. These are mostly spicy and may not always be particularly clean. It requires a bit of getting used to, but when you've acquired the taste and your system has adjusted to the rich flavors and strong spices, you won't be left needing for anything else. Social standing is proving insignificant in the quest for good food. It doesn't matter what quantity of money you have. You may enjoy fine dining regardless. Indeed, your personalized money clip won't have to suffer in pursuit of good food. It's simply a matter of knowing where exactly to look and digging in without hesitation.

Food for Thought

There's nothing like a finely cooked meal or a richly prepared banquet to enhance the senses. No matter whether you have a fat personalized money clip or a thin one, you've got every right to enjoy good food and to dine in the finest way possible. All things considered, good food ought to be a right and not a privilege.

What You Need To Cook On Your First Date

By George Dodson

You looked all your life for that special person. At last you've found them and it is already time to set up your first date. The first date is special because you have agreed to cook a meal. Hence, you will need to make a decision what to cook.

Before you begin that list of what to pick up at the grocery store there are several things you want to pay attention to. First, you need to know that its not a date at the restaurant. Chef so-and-so is not fixing your meal. Relax and stay calm. Make sure you decide exactly what it is you're going to cook, the price of the ingredients, and whatever you'll need to prepare the meal.

Another thing to consider is that you should focus on a quality time on your first date. You will need to know what your dates' favorite meal is. Perhaps you could discover their favorite restaurant. Be sure to find out what it is they don't like. You don't want to prepare whole meal and have it be something the other person doesn't care for. Have a subtle approach or you can also be direct as well. Open the topic about food and carefully ask what he or she dislikes.

A meal that you can prepare together is also something to be considered. Spend some time thinking about how this is going to proceed. That way when it comes time to cook you'll have thought out all the procedures necessary to make it a pleasant experience. You can use your creativity here. You can find a lot of foods that are easy to make and tastes really great. That might include sushi, or a salad.

Having to ask your date to bring something is also a good idea. Wine, dessert or appetizer are the best things that the other person can bring on your date. You can ask them to bring a thing that can prolong the conversation. That way such things as a case of beer or some other item won't drag you away from a pleasant time of getting to know one another.

You will also have to consider a food that is easy to eat. Furthermore, Having To Stir The Conversation Is Also something to consider. In the long run, you are after the getting to know part instead of the cooking part.

You also need to take into considerations the little dishes. Likewise, you can also lay a few of your dishes with olives, cheeses, pickles and others. That's a very interactive way to share a meal. You'll be helping each other out in preparing your meal.

You should avoid those meals that takes too long to prepare whenever you are planning to cook for a dinner date. Of course, the date should be mostly about getting to know the other person not on cooking alone. By merely preparing the meal together that you are able to avoid moments where you're not talking to each other.

Lastly, dating is knowing the other person. Food isn't the main consideration. If things don't go exactly the way you want them to don't sweat it. You can always have something to converse about. If you know your priorities in the date then things will end up fine.
