In reference to what a number of sources are saying, a fry cook accidentally spilled some French fries on a bowl filled with chopped carne asada.

After the mistake had been done, the fry cook decided not to remove the French chips. Instead, the cook added cheese, guacamole and sour cream on the mixture. Afterwards, the cook fried the mixture on a pan that was used to fry French and just like that a new dish was born. Many whites and Asians even today believe that carne asada fries is a true Mexican food.

Basic ingredients that are used in making the dish are guacamole, French fries, cheese and sour cream. Based on this combination, the food has a lot of calories. A meal can have up to 2000 calories or more on the basis of the cook that has prepared it. The shoestring variety of chips is the one used in making the dish. One can however use other cuts.

In most cases, the carne asada is usually chopped into very fine pieces. The reason for this is to make it easier on the consumer so that they do not need to cut it further when they are eating. The commonly used cheese is cotjja, but other cheese mixes can be used too. Restaurants that use other mixes of cheese do so in order to save on cost because they are cheaper.

As one prepares the dish, the oven ought to be preheated to temperatures of 230 degrees Celsius. A parchment paper is used to line the dish. The potatoes need to be chopped into wedges and then mixed with salt, baking sheet, olive oil, garlic powder and paprika in a bowl. The mixture should be stirred continuously till the fries have been coated with the mixture.

The next step is to place the chips on the baking sheet and then giving them 30 to 35 minutes to bake. If one chooses, they may continue baking the fries till they change their color to golden brown or until they become crispy. Using a separate bowl, one has to mix salt, oregano, chili powder, lime juice, cilantro and garlic. With the mixture ready, one should add flank steak and marinate it for 20 minutes.

The steak then has to be medium cooked on a cast iron skillet then left to stay for ten minutes after which it is diced. The baked fries, diced carne asada and pepper jack cheese should be put in an ovenproof skillet and boiled till the cheese melts. Guacamole, grated cotija cheese, cilantro, diced tomatoes and sour cream should top the dish prior to serving it.
