The U.S. is often thought of as a big melting pot of different cultures. One of the simplest dishes you could make is tacos. Tacos are so basic that it does not take a lot of skill to make them. You can find all of the ingredients you need for it in most mainstream grocery stores including big box retailers. The ingredients include ground beef or chopped up chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, and shredded cheese. You can also add sour cream and guacamole if you want.

Another popular dish that you can easily make at home is enchiladas. Enchiladas are reportedly not served a lot in Mexico. However, people have borrowed from the culture to create this dish. In some ways, it contains the flavor and look of food from this country. The standard filling is either chicken or ground beef.

The meat is wrapped in a flour tortilla that you can buy at any grocery store. They are wrapped lose with the ends still open. The fold on each one is placed face down in the pan before the enchiladas are covered with enchilada sauce and cheese. The entire dish is then baked for 45 minutes to an hour.

When it comes to desserts, you can choose from either flan or fried ice cream. Flan is like a pudding or custard that is covered with caramel sauce. It is generally served warm and can have raisins or dates in it. Fried ice cream is not really fried. Instead, it is rolled in sugar and served with whipped cream and caramel. It is a rich dessert that can be shared by several people.

These examples of Mexican food are just some that you can order at a restaurant or make at home. While not entirely authentic to Mexico, the dishes contain some of the flair and flavor from that country. They made their way into American culture after immigrants brought similar dishes to the country.
