You Just Have To Love Gourmet Fudge

By Lisa Clark

When it comes to various desserts, the one called fudge is just perfect for any day, but during Christmas holidays, you simply have to have some on your table. It is so easy to prepare, and brings out so much pleasure. There are probably hundreds of tasty combinations, but gourmet fudge with chocolate is something you just cannot make a mistake with.

Basic ingredients are simple, and once you make a few recipes, you can build up from there, and make your own variations, suited to your personal taste. The simplest choco fudge requires just a few ingredients, chocolate chips, butter, sugar and a little bit of water. So, combine one cup of sugar with three tablespoons water and bring it to boil, to make syrup. Melt three cups chocolate chips in this syrup, on very low heat, and simply add half cup butter in. Pour into the pan and wait until cold.

Previous recipe was made without condensed milk, but most recipes you will find use condensed milk, sweetened or unsweetened. One can condensed milk goes with three cups of chocolate chips, and this makes this basic recipe. You can simply melt these ingredients together in the microwave, and that's it. Now you can add a few spoons of peanut butter in, with some chopped peanuts as well, if you like, and spread the mixture into the pan. Leave it in the fridge until hard enough for serving.

So, now you know how to prepare this basic peanut fudge. It's easy to make it more interesting. For example, you could simply sprinkle this warm mixture when you pour it into the pan with white chocolate chips or with crushed peanuts. These ingredients really love each other, and taste great together, but you can add anything you want.

Caramel fudge can be easily prepared as well. Pour two cups sugar into the pan and caramelize it over low heat. Pour one cup condensed milk in and stir. Combine this mixture with three cups dark chocolate, melted. You can use this mixture as it is, or add some butter, peanut butter, nuts, vanilla syrup or anything else you can think of.

As it was said before, you will need one can of condensed milk for approximately three cups of choco chips. The easiest thing to do is to melt these ingredients together in your microwave, and make this basic fudge. Now you can make different combinations, or simply pour it into your lined pan as it is. You could also pour different layers on, and sprinkle it all with decorative chocolate chips or nuts.

If you use white chocolate instead, you can also play with different colors, for some special occasions. For example, for Saint Patrick's Day, you could make a basic recipe using white chocolate, and add some mint extract. Another idea for making it all green is to use pistachios instead, both in preparing the mixture, and sprinkling them over.

If you like spicy and unusual desserts, make basic fudge mixture using dark choco chips and condensed milk, and spice it up with chili powder. A little bit of salt will make it all even tastier. Use your imagination and create wonderful, really satisfying desserts everyone will enjoy in.
