Basic Guides In Looking For An Authentic Chinese Restaurant

By David Brown

People like eating food specially those that came from other countries because they want to try eating new flavors. Fortunately, there is no need of going to other countries in order to taste their dishes because foreign restaurants are available across the city. This would give you the chance of trying out you have not tried before.

But some restaurants are not offering food with authentic taste to what it originally has back at their country. They tend to change the flavors to fit in with the locals of the area such as in Baltimore, MD and other cities in the US. So finding a Chinese restaurant Baltimore city has that serves authentic Chinese food is important to have a real experience.

One thing you could do is by checking how crowded the place is with patrons and much better if a people are waiting outside to be seated. This will show that the food they serve are delicious because of the number of people wanting to go in. Those that have Chinese patrons as the majority is better because of the indication of them serving an identical taste just like back at home.

People which are traveling abroad will be looking for familiar things and would prefer establishments serving authentic tastes. You could also observe what are on their table and order those which look delicious for you. You would probably get a food with more real tasting flavor that most Chinese people like eating.

A place that have many tables but with not that many guests have food that probably are not that fresh anymore. Likewise, those which offer takeout and have no tables will likely be not creating authentic dishes. Eating somewhere clean is an important thing no matter the kind of restaurant, so avoid those which does not look clean.

Research what is the regional specialty of that restaurant because China is a large place and different areas have different dishes mastered. Specialties of the northern region are noodles, steamed buns and dumplings because this is where grains commonly grow. The southeastern region are home to rice and vegetable dishes with an international influence.

The southern ones specialize in steam fish and other sea foods and their cooking is light and uses copious ginger. Southwestern parts are landlocked which makes ordering shrimps and fishes not a great idea although they still have the freshwater variety. Their dishes tend to be spicy and flavored with prickly ash which leaves a tingling and numbing sensation to the tongue.

Some restaurants tend to have names that are based on the region where they come from but beware of those using the names of cities. They may not actually represent the real taste of that city but are just using them for brand recognition. The name of a dish is not a good representation also but instead look at its ingredients and how it is cooked.

Their original names usually have poetic meaning than their literal translations. Their colorful history describes the way they taste. Buffet restaurants should be avoided because their freshness suffers from long heating time.
