The Consumer's Guide To Using Certified EVOO

By Mattie Knight

Most people think of cooking when it comes to the use of olive oil, but this is not the only way. Certified EVOO or extra virgin olive oil has many other uses besides that of the kitchen. This article will explore these methods in both food and other areas where a person can make use of this product.

Cooking, as was mentioned before, is the main use of olive oil. It can be used in salad dressings along with lemon juice and salt or to make stir fried vegetables. Depending on the dish one is preparing, it might be better to use lighter tasting oil but this also depends on the tastes of the person doing the cooking or who they are cooking for.

This is also the reason why many believe it is the best oil for cooking, due to the monounsaturated fats which is believed by some to be stable in heat. On the other hand, there are others who say that the antioxidants that give this type of oil its color, are unstable in heat which can make it toxic when heated. So this is something one should keep in mind.

To enhance beauty, one can use this type of oil as well. This product can be used on the skin and hair in a number of ways. The antioxidants and vitamins found are not only good on the inside but also on the outside. Instead of a regular moisturizer one would find in the store, olive can be used on the skin which helps to reduce the aging process that so many are concerned about.

Olive oil can also be used on the lips as is or in the form of a lip balm made with the oil and beeswax. This is not only a good way to save money but also to know what is being applied to the body. Olive oil has Vitamin E and antioxidants which means that the body will be healthier as a result of using these products on the body.

In addition to cooking and beauty, there are everyday uses for olive oil around the home. It can be used to shine stainless steel whether it is a sink, utensils or another item. This oil can also be used to polish wooden furniture to give an extra sheen. If a door in the home is making noise, this can be the time to use olive oil to on the hinges.

Olive oil is also good for removing paint from the hair and skin after a painting project. It is also good in lamps which is something that has been done for hundreds of years. This oil can also be used to waterproof shoes and other items made with leather. To help keep a pet cat healthy, olive oil can be used in their food to help make their coat shiny and keep them well.

These are the different ways a person can save money using olive oil. Some people learn about these and other uses from friends and family members while others might learn from searching the internet or reading books. Doing some research will help a person use the oil in a way that is right for their situation.
