3 Ways For New Chefs To Excel In Burgundian Cooking

By Jennifer Marie Anderson

Burgundian cooking is a unique topic, to say the least, so you may wonder what exactly it is all about. French cooking is, without question, linked to this so anyone who's familiar with this endeavor may already find themselves at home. It's important to note that comforting meals and the best tastes can come into effect. With food and wine alike, there's no doubt that there is much for new, less experienced chefs to take into account.

What I have observed is that, compared to other culinary styles, Burgundian cooking is not talked about nearly as much as it should be. Of course, it's easy to go over the Chinese culinary arts, or those related to Spain. Those are a bit more well-known, though the scope of their origins are more recognized. Regardless, the Burgundian culinary arts deserve coverage, which I hope to achieve with this particular piece, designed with greater cooking knowledge in mind.

One of the hallmarks of the Burgundian culinary arts is the slew of wines associated with them. As referenced earlier, those who understand this subject will be able to tell you about wine and how it can be applied to French cooking. Many entrees, in this regard, are served with high-quality wines the likes of pinot and chardonnay. From white to red wine, it's clear that those who enjoy food are not exactly going to be light on options to pick from.

As far as the food itself is concerned, there are quite a few points to address. To start off, there is a traditionalist sense that comes from the entrees that are usually prepared, ranging from escargots to roasted veal. These are served with their typical sides but what strikes me is the calorie count that's linked to Burgundian cooking. Specifically, you will find that there are fewer calories and lesser amounts of fat that can be linked to several recipes.

What about health, as it relates to the methods associated with Burgundian cooking? For those who do not know, this particular method makes use of a unique water-based method that serves the purpose of preparing meals with healthiness in mind. In my view, what makes this truly worthwhile is the fact that taste will not be hindered because of this emphasis on water. What this means is that the overall culinary experience will be left unchanged.
