Steps In Making Cinnamon Flavored Toothpicks

By Roseann Hudson

Oral health is a major contributor to the overall body health. That is why dentists worldwide encourage proper oral hygiene at all times. The major contributor to poor oral health is the presence of food particles in between teeth which encourage the multiplication of bacteria. These bacteria excrete toxic materials that affect the wellbeing of the teeth and gums. To prevent this, you should use a toothpick after every meal to eliminate all the food particles. As such, flavored toothpicks should always form a part of your monthly shopping so as to improve your oral health and that of your family.

The first step is to pour the required amount of cinnamon into a container. In this case, two ounces is enough. The container should be airtight. It should also have a lid that fits properly. Make sure that the jar is not too large so that the cinnamon covers the bottom completely.

The next step is to put the number of wooden sticks that you want to make toothpicks from. They should be the height of the container so that it can be closed easily. So as to maximize the container, ensure that they completely fill all the spaces that are available. Five hundred would be a good number for a medium sized container.

Once all the sticks are fully arranged into the container, cover it with a lid. Tightly fit the lid and make sure that there is no air that is getting in or out of the container. The reason for this is to ensure that the sticks absorb all the fumes that have the cinnamon flavor. If there is any air getting in or out, it could dilute the flavor that means the sticks will not be properly flavored.

You should allow the container to stand undisturbed throughout the night. You need to place it in a position where children cannot reach it easily. If the container is shaken, the cinnamon could fail to distribute evenly inside the sticks thus lowering the quality of the final products.

Once the twelve hours are over, remove the sticks from the container. You should place them on a place which is nonabsorbent. This is so that it does not such the cinnamon from the sticks. The place should be clean too. Wash your hands properly before handling the sticks so that you do not contaminate them.

To determine whether the sticks are completely dry, you need to feel them with your fingers. If there are no stains left on your fingers, you can be sure that they are dry. The only job left would be to collect the sticks using disinfected hands so as to avoid germs.

Since they are not used all at once, you should store them in airtight containers. This is to prevent them from losing the flavor. If they are being packed for sale, use airtight containers too. If there was any cinnamon that remained in the first container, you should keep it in an airtight container to be used for the next round.
