When it comes to the most useful products in the way of culinary purposes, Italian olive oil is easily one of the most important. Yes, there are many types of oil that are legitimate but what about those which seem to have not been made from the same cloth? Is it possible that they have been tampered with for one reason or another? You deserve the best products and there are a few ways for you to keep away from faker oils in favor of more legitimate ones.

The fridge test will be able to come into effect but you may be curious as to how useful this can be. When a bottle of authentic Italian olive oil is put in a refrigerator, the general rule is that the bottle in question becomes cloudy in order to signify that it is legitimate. However, various authorities in this field - Bellucci Premium being a strong example - can tell you that this process is not always useful. With many producers that winterize their products, it's hard to tell from this method.

If you can purchase your Italian olive oil on a local basis, I highly urge you to do so. You will be able to buy your items from someone who is nearby, which means that you will have a better idea of how it is that they are able to create the oil. This is a luxury that you aren't able to attain if you were to purchase oil from a traditional market, for example. If you want the best results, you are better off turning to a local grower and doing business with him or her.

Thirdly, if you are going to purchase this type of oil, make sure that you do so while it is in a dark bottle. It's been said that the oil that is stored in clearer bottles suffers from oxidation much faster, which means that it will not be the kind of oil that can be used with all of its healthful properties intact. In fact, it is the darker bottles that seem to make all of the difference. They are able to filter out sunlight much more effectively than others.

Hopefully, with these points brought into consideration, the process of buying olive oil is rendered easier. With a number of imitation products out there, customers have to be wary about where exactly they put their money. Without question, going with a local seller is for the best but what happens when such a luxury isn't had? If this is the case, make sure that you go about research in order for you to run a lesser risk of picking up a bottle of oil that isn't as good.
