Ways To Prepare Baked Ziti

By Mike Jones

Baked ziti is an incredibly delicious and tantalizing Italian cuisine and is basically a pasta dish. It is a very simple recipe that is as easy to prepare just like sugar cookies. It can be served with some bread and some light green salad. This wonderful dish will definitely be one of your family's weeknight favorites. Here is your chance to sample this amazing dish.

For the requirements for the ziti, you'll need Dried pasta, 450g; Quick marinara sauce, 825ml; Salt, 10g; Freshly grated and divided Parmesan, 75g; Mozzarella, 450g (one half cut into 1cm cubes and one half sliced thinly); Black pepper, freshly ground and Red pepper flakes (a pinch)

Take a 23cm by 33cm baking dish, oil it well and then pour in the pasta into it. The top of the pasta is then covered with the sliced mozzarella. Use the Parmesan that is remaining to sprinkle it over.

For the marinara sauce, you will need 2tbsp extra-virgin olive oil; 3 cloves garlic (chopped); 1/4 medium sized onion (diced); 800g whole, peeled, roughly chopped, canned tomatoes; 12g salt; Sprig of fresh thyme; Freshly ground black pepper and Sprig of fresh basil

For marinara sauce, one'll need 2tbsp extra-virgin oil; medium diced onion; 3 chopped cloves garlic; 800g canned tomatoes (whole, peeled and roughly chopped); 12g of salt; Sprig of fresh basil; Sprig of fresh thyme and Black pepper (freshly ground)

To prepare the marinara sauce, using medium-high heat, heat an already oiled medium sized saucepan. Add in the garlic and onions and saute them to a light brown color. Pour in the herb sprigs and tomatoes, bringing them to a boil. Simmer for about 10 minute and ensure it is well covered.

Finally, take out the herb sprigs and throw them away. Season it with pepper to taste, after adding in the salt. Use it immediately it is done or optionally, store it in the fridge but only for up to 72 hour. If you decide to freeze your baked ziti, do so for up to 2 months only.
